Being A Writer

Being a writer takes a lot of dedication and hard work. Writing's not for everyone and everyone's not a writer-- and sometimes, as a writer, I feel it's not even for me. But I love to write, and it's my passion, and has been since I learned to read. They say a writer should write at least an hour every day. I try too most days, but sometimes, long days seem to linger at work, and I'm just too exhausted to even open my lap-top by the time I get home. Thoughts are always flowing, characters; always making their way into my brain and new ways to intrigue my readers is always just a step behind. But more than, characters, ideas, lap-tops, or passion; you have to write, write and write some more. And I don't think that there is an author out there, that wouldn't agree with the latter of all the others mentioned.

Preparation Before A Book Signing

The first thing that comes to mind before going out there; anxious and ready to sign books for anticipated readers:is to be very ready. Every author may have a certain way of preparing themselves, and I am one of them. I've learned by going to other great book signings, that there is much to do before that big day--like not forgetting to bring plenty of pens, and chilled water to get you through those long hours.Oh, yes, the books; and if you've ordered them from your publisher, be sure you have them before the day of the event. Maybe some autograph stickers for your well-deserved readers, and some good conversation. But whatever you chose to do at your book signing...plan, plan, plan.  ;)

"An Enjoyable Book Signing"

I went to a book signing on Saturday which was held at Barnes & Noble. I had the honor of meeting Shannon Hammer, author of ' The Positive Portions' A Food and Fitness journal
,and it was a pleasure to talk with her. I think it also helped with the jitters I was building in my head about book signings...lol. She set the bar...But to talk with her, was like talking to a dear friend that I'd known all my life. it was awesome. I bought her book and she signed it for me... ;)
