Hey bloggers...happy fourth to all of you and be safe enjoying it! I know we all love fireworks and can't wait to get out there and watch them explode in the night sky, but we have to also be responsible. So have your fun...it's your right--just be considerate and aware of those around you. And just remember that there's always a place to go and watch them in, or around your neighborhood. Now, let's go out there and do the darn thing!!!

INTIMIDATION

No more than an hour ago, I read a blog post by Rachelle Gardner that caught my interest. She titled the post: 7 Ways to Give Away Your Power--and How to Avoid it. First of all, I think Rachelle Gardner is not only very intelligent, but an awesome blogger. Anyway, the particular power giveaway that caught my eye was number 2 Being intimidated by "the industry" or anyone in it. It caught my eye because being intimidated by agents, and publishing houses', both of which she blogs about, affects many new authors. And such blogs as Rachelle's are very much needed to ease that anxiety and place in perspective the truth. She states that giving away our power--in work, relationships, and life in general...we lose out on things we want and need in life. After reading her blog...I have come to my own conclusion. Knowing that our power is our own, meaning not just us authors, but us the people...it really is just a matter of how we fine tune that power or how much of it we want to share or giveaway. However, just knowing that it is our decision and ours alone, should ease the tension. Don't settle. Do you, be you and your power can only be strengthened. In the writing world...publisher's and agents, as she states, are just looking for the right books and authors for their needs. We as writers’, school teacher's, office manager's or any job, loved or needed for survival, must also do the same. The right moment and day will come. Intimidation is just a word...an emotion that we control. I can only speak for myself...but I know, I'm not alone.

The Black Pearl Book Club's Second Annual Tea; My hat off to you ladies!

Hello everyone! It's been a few weeks since I've written on my blog and I do apologize. It seems that time goes by faster than I can move through a day, but I am here; Yeah! The Tea, hosted by The Black Pearl Book Club,which was held at Pipps, an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, was a great success and I must say, the ladies were wonderful host, and the food was awesome.I enjoyed every moment.The ladies did so much to make all of the authors including myself, welcome.I had the honor of sitting and talking with the other authors( Sheila McDaniel, Deborah Harris, and the wonderful Victoria Christopher Murray) and they were all so warm.Thank you ladies, it was a pleasure... The Black Pearl Book Club is not only a book club, they give back to the community and that to me is so beautiful. What they do is so needed...thank you Black Pearl...you rock!The rep from The Cinderella and Prince Charming Foundation was the guest speaker and what the tea was truly about...paying it forward, and I must say he was very informative and kind. Hats off Ladies to a great Tea Party!!!! To my sister Arnetice, who took time for me out of her busy day, thank you so much. You got me through my fear of speaking and your support through all of this I will cherish forever! Love you sis!!!!!!!!!!!! To my husband who has not only been my manager, best friend, and greatest supporter: thank you! You are my rock...love you forever! Doing It All

Hello guys! I want to talk a little bit about multitasking. I have a full-time job, which I can honestly say I love; I am a full-time mom, even with three adult children, and author. But the reason I wanted to talk about multitasking (doing it all) is because as a women, it's truly a part of us—and for many of us, it actually defines us, although I can say for the most of us, we do it well. So blink those sexy eyes a few times for yourselves for that one, ladies! As a writer, there are so many areas to write about regarding this subject, but as a lover of fiction writing, I don't actually know how I would incorporate it into a story. A conversation that my sister had with a friend of hers, actually sparked this thought, even though it happened over a year ago--go figure. I can’t say why, I wanted to touch on this subject today, but I think I just needed to share this bit of venting with you all. Don’t get me wrong—Multitasking is a good thing as long as we space it right, know what we want out of every task and are realistic about getting it done. If you can’t get it all done in one day, you just push it to the next. Just that simple.

I would love to know what your multitasking duties involve in a day, and how you actually handle them. Who knows--maybe I can learn a thing or two, or give a bit of advice. Just my thought…hope to see some of your post…
